Program Overview

Ethics and integrity undergird the new Grand Challenges in public administration. There is no shortage of ethical issues for managing public organizations. Human behavior and decision-making play an important role in understanding ethical actions, the role of ethical codes, whistleblower incidents, and corruption from the decay of morality within public organizations. The course will examine the new Grand Challenges in public administration through cross-sector partnerships and Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17. The goal seeks to integrate and implement the remaining 16 SDGs within partnerships and create public value that simultaneously extends to an interconnected world while encouraging innovation in public organizations. Revitalizing cross-sector partnerships in public administration will require rethinking partnership capabilities that will strengthen society due to an interdependent human and social ecosystem. The course will address public service ethics and integrity in business, government, and civil society levels of analyses for understanding the impact and role of partnership sustainable development change initiatives.

Program Objectives

The new public administration requires developing ethical leaders and managers.

The program encourages participants to examine their own ideas, experiences, comparisons, and insights into ethics and integrity to bolster their confidence and prepare them for the ethical problems they will face in their public organizations. To address the Grand Challenges in practical administration, the program will integrate practical administration, ethical theories, and integrity approaches with sustainability science.

Joining the program will raise participants’ career development potential and abilities, skills, and knowledge for changing their public organizations through the Grand Challenges such as ensuring environmental sustainability and strengthening social and economic development in the 21st century.
